Wellness for Life

WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW
It has been a busy start to the school year! In Wellness 1, students are in the middle of learning about the foundational movements that are the base of not only weighted exercise movements, but also the base of movement in our general, everyday lives.

Wellness 2 is currently completing their Athlete On-Ramp program in PLT4M which is giving them a review of all of the movements learned last year before they move into their full workouts.

UPCOMING
Students in Wellness 1 will gain exposure to suspension training with the TRX straps and will take their foundational movements and start applying them with load through the use of medicine balls/dumbbells. Our 1st unit test will be the week of September 7th that will cover Intro to Fitness 1.

Wellness 2 will be reviewing the goals and action plans they created at the start of the school year, make revisions and begin putting them into action for the remainder of the school year!

Hi there Falcons! This is my 19th year teaching at Tracy Learning Center and I’m having a blast watching the students grow, discover and overcome challenges through movement!

When I stepped down from Athletic Director 5 years ago, I was looking for a new challenge and something to help re-find my joy in education. I had the opportunity to create a new class, Wellness for Life, which is heading into its 4th year of creation! It may be one of the most rewarding roles I’ve had here and has reignited my passion for teaching. This school year we will be rolling out a second level to Wellness called Wellness 2: Advanced Strength Training & Fitness. I can’t wait to continue growing this program! Wellness is a challenging class both physically and mentally, and your student has chosen to accept this challenge, which speaks volumes.

In addition to my credentials in Physical Education, I’ve completed certifications through NASM as a Certified Personal Trainer and Youth Exercise Specialist, in addition to a Performance Enhancement Specialization, and a few others, to make sure I’m equipped (and constantly learning) new ways to bring fitness to our students in a way that can help build their confidence when going at it on their own.

Students get an opportunity to focus on fitness form/technique and style, while simultaneously working to achieve their current health goals. We are all on this lifelong journey together!

¡Hola! I have been teaching Spanish to students of all ages for over 40 years and it is my passion and vocation. I truly enjoy coming to work each day to engage students with my lessons. I love learning and hope to share the joy with my students so they can become life-long learners as well. My education includes a BS in Biology and a Masters in Education. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and it is my honor to share my culture and language with my students and friends. I love parent’s involvement in supporting their children to succeed in my classes.
