Celebrating Black Excellence - Black History Month Murals Are Back!

On our February Minimum First Friday, MHS launched our 8th annual Black History Month mural door display contest. The morning of February 6th, students remained in their HUB homeroom class for the duration of the day, collaborating in creating their unique canvas honoring the significant figure from Black history they had researched and selected as a class. The student-led works of art our Falcons produced were then hung from our doors all month in celebration of Black History Month.

The door decoration contest was judged Monday, February 23rd, and Tuesday, February 24th by a panel including our own Black Student Union students, Falcon Leadership, and the Tracy African American Association.

The winners of the contest will be announced next Friday, on our March Minimum First Friday.

Below are just a few examples of the amazing work our Falcons created this year!

Millennium Senior Honored by DAR with Good Citizen Award

Aanshi Parekh was honored February 18th by the El Toyon chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution with their Good Citizen of the Year Award. The Good Citizen award for seniors in high school leadership, established in 1934, is a prestigious program recognizing high school seniors for four specific values.

Those values are: outstanding dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.

Criteria for the award are faculty nomination, a personal statement, and participation in a limited-preparation essay contest on the subject of patriotism. Aanshi was one of only 13 students in San Joaquin County to receive this award. We are very proud of this Falcon!
